About the Corporate Cup
Originally established in 1985 by Rolfe McCollister, Jr., publisher of the Baton Rouge Business Report, the Corporate Cup event is an annual run/walk where thousands of runners and walkers from hundreds of companies in the Greater Baton Rouge area come together to celebrate corporate wellness, camaraderie, and community fellowship for a fun-filled morning. Providence is proud to have brought back this most popular event, now as a non-profit event. As proven by the overwhelming participation in the 2008 "comeback" race, the spirit of togetherness is alive and well!
Once again, Providence Corporate Cup touts the message that "good health is good business!" The Providence Corporate Cup is a marvelous event that not only advocates wellness in the workplace but supports two great causes: Mid City Redevelopment and Big Buddy.
With the 24th year ahead of us, we continue our intense focus on corporate health, wellness, and prevention as our platform. We are the only race in the area focused on corporate wellness, fitness, and general illness prevention as a philosophy of business. We further this belief by continuing our second year of a Future CEO Event for kids 14 and under because we believe that good health and a healthy lifestyle begin at an early age.
It is Providence Corporate Cup's privilege to carry on this long time tradition established by the Baton Rouge Business Report many years ago. With four years under our belt since the race's comeback in 2008, we've sought out partners who carry the corporate wellness banner or simply believe in our purpose and support us by their participation.
The Providence Corporate Cup 5k Run/Walk includes competition in four divisions for participating corporate teams, as well as the open division which consists of runners/walkers that are not necessarily associated with a corporation.
What teams and runners can look forward to again this year:
- A 3.1-mile course running through beautiful downtown and developing Mid City Baton Rouge
- Four race divisions to suit your organization
- Award to overall winners in each division
- Corporate Wellness Program Award
- Corporate Participation Competition
- "Fast 400" Awards
- "Oldie but Goodie" Award for oldest male and female
- "Future CEO" 1-mile Fun Run for ages 14 and under
- Company T-shirt Design Contest
- Chip timing
- Tent Decorating Contest
- Food and fun, being fit, learning more about living longer and healthier, nutrition, and building camaraderie with your team and friends
Participation is not limited to competitors only; many companies have on-site tent locations for their employees, business associates, family, and friends just to be a part of the community-driven event.
FREE food, drink, musical entertainment, and other amenities are provided to ALL participants at the post-race party.
Proceeds from the race are donated to the Big Buddy Program and the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance.
