About the Providence Corporate Cup

Originally established in 1985 by Rolfe McCollister, Jr., publisher of the Baton Rouge Business Report, this event is an annual run/walk where thousands of runners and walkers from hundreds of companies in the Greater Baton Rouge area come together to celebrate corporate wellness, camaraderie, and community fellowship for a fun-filled morning. As proven by the overhwelming participation in the 2008 comeback race, that spirit of togetherness is alive and well!

The Providence Corporate Cup 5k Run/Walk includes competition in four divisions for participating corporate teams, as well as the open division which consists of runners/walkers that are not necessarily associated with a corporation, on a 3.1-mile race course. Division 1 teams are composed of three members and Division 2, 3, and 4 teams are composed of four members. Awards are presented to overall winners in all divisions. Other areas of competition include corporate participation, the coveted company t-shirt design contest, the "Oldie but Goodie" award for oldest male and female, and the "Fast 400," or the first 400 finishers. The Providence Corporate Cup 5k Run/Walk also presents the annual Corporate Wellness Award to a company, organization or individual that provides a presentation of efforts they have made to promote wellness in their environment. Participation is not limited to competitors only; many companies have on-site tent locations for their employees, business associates, family and friends just to be a part of the community-driven event. FREE food, drink, musical entertainment, and other amenities are provided to ALL participants at the post-race party

Proceeds from the race are donated to the Big Buddy Program and the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance.
